Date Ideas: The Picture Frame Date

Picture Frame Date

The Picture Frame Date

Recently Liza and I were out for dinner one night, and we decided to find something we could take home for dessert. While walking from the restaurant to the grocery store, we passed by a dollar store and decided to stop in and look for a cheap date idea. That’s when we “invented” (at least we hadn’t heard of it before) the Picture Frame Date.

The Picture Frame Date is simple, though it is a bit easier if you’ve got some history with your spouse. Start by looking for a couple of cheap picture frames. We got ours from a dollar store, but you can find tons of inexpensive picture frames on Amazon. You both pick out a frame for yourselves, and make sure your significant other sees it and knows the size.

The Fun Part of the Picture Frame Date

Once you know your significant other’s frame style and size, you get to pick a picture to put in the frame (and they pick one for you). The fun part of the Picture Frame Date is reminiscing while you look over all of the pictures you’ve taken together over the years.

The more you’ve done together, and the more pictures you’ve collected, the sweeter your experience will be.

The nice thing about the Picture Frame Date is that it lasts as long as you want to reminisce (assuming you have the photos to do it). When you’ve found the right picture, put it in the frame. If it’s digital, you can print pictures online – I used SnapFish, and was able to pick the photos up at Walgreens in my home town the same day.

Our Picture Frame Date

Picture Frame DateI picked a standard 5×7″ frame and Liza chose to fill it with a picture of my childhood dog, Stanley. It’s the only photo I have left of him, and it means a lot to me. I love that she picked this photo, even though it wasn’t what I was expecting.

Liza picked a wallet-sized frame for our Picture Frame Date. I had a hard time picking on this one, but I ultimately settled on a picture of the two of us visiting the Seattle Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from earlier this year. I love that this shows how far we’ve come, and that we’re still doing our best to be good people and influence the world in a positive way.

That’s it! Please do me a favor – give this date a try, and let me know how it went by Contacting me or posting in the comments below!
